Geoff Wall - in his own words

I'd always had love and passion for music especially guitar and all genres but Spanish and flamenco guitar, I always considered a bit special.

I started learning the guitar at the age of 23. Although I came to it later than many musicians, I was determined to learn and dedicated myself to practising. I began with formal lessons, concentrating on flamenco techniques during my first year before broadening my interests to include electric blues and rock.

The more I learnt about flamenco, the more fascinated I became by its rich history and the evolution of the guitar. I developed a particular interest in the blend of Moorish, Romani, Jewish and Andalusian musical influences that shaped flamenco over the centuries, as well as the development of the Spanish guitar into the instrument we know today.

One of the things I love most about flamenco is its freedom of expression. Rather than playing a piece exactly the same way every time, I can combine different sections and musical ideas, allowing each performance to be unique while continually incorporating new passages and techniques as I learn them.

Above all, flamenco is a music of passion, emotion and storytelling. Often described as the blues of Spain, it expresses love, joy, sorrow and the realities of everyday life with an honesty and intensity that has inspired me throughout my musical journey.
